Nothing beats the joy of coming home to your pet after a long tiring day. But at the same time, owning a pet is about much more than cuddling and playing.  It demands financial commitment and responsibility.

Owning a pet can put a strain on your budget, from the cost of buying or transporting the pet into the country to maintenance costs such as vaccinations, food supplies, doctors visits, grooming and cleaning. UAE residents admit to spending anywhere between AED 7,000 to AED 10,000 on their pets on an average every year. These include expenses of approximately:

  • AED 300 per month on pet food
  • AED 200 per month on grooming
  • AED 50 on toys every month
  • Visits to the vets (cost depends on the medical condition of the pet)

If you’re a pet owner and don’t know how to cope with costs or limited number of activities that are available, we have compiled a list of things that you can do with your pet while sticking to the budget.
