What is a CashU Card?
CashU is an electronic payment solution launched in 2002 by Maktoob (Yahoo), designed and customized to serve online merchants and shoppers in Arabic-speaking countries across the Middle East and North African (MENA) region. How does a CashU Card work?
CashU card allows merchants and individuals to sell products online through a virtual store or website. The CashU Merchant Service offers two ways to accept payments:
1. The Cashu Payment Gateway which is incorporated on to the merchant’s or individual’s website and shoppers pay the exact amount for their purchases.
2. CashU Direct Pay where shoppers use a CashU Refill Coupon (Prepaid card) directly on a merchant’s or individual’s website, but they must redeem the full value of the coupon at the time of purchase.
How is it different from other cards?
The advantage of the CashU card is that it can be considered as a safe way to make payments online. Why? This is because if the CashU card does gets lost or stolen, you would only lose the amount on the card and nothing else as it is not linked to a credit limit or a bank account.
With a CashU card you can allow your children and teens to shop online. This is because the card comes with a special Parental Control feature, allowing you to choose the different types of merchants the card can be used at. It screens each merchant based on your settings and the product’s recommended age group. The age categories range from 0-12, 12-18 and 18 and over. Parents can also block or unblock specific merchant’s from the CashU card’s account login area, providing an even greater level of control .
CashU cards can be topped up by using a number of methods including a CashU Refill Coupon, Westen Union, Money Gram, UKash or bank transfer. CashU refill coupons are available in five denominations of 10, 30, 50, 100, or 300. You can even win monthly prizes such as cameras or phones every time you top up. To get your CashU card, you need to sign up on their website. You will need to create your account and verify your email address. Once this is done, you will set up a funding method and add funds straight away on your account.
